The Long Weekend Plan
Privacy policy
Your plan stays on your device. The calculators run in your browser. Your plan, your statements and the files you save are kept on your device, not on our servers. We only hold your email address if you sign in, and your licence and purchase records if you buy Plus.
Who we are
The Long Weekend Plan is provided by Mark Murphy, a sole trader, under the registered business name The Long Weekend Plan (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it. Contact us at australiansuperguidebook@gmail.com.
What stays on your device
- Your plan. Everything you enter (ages, balances, incomes, spending, property, loans and planned transactions) is stored in your browser and in plan files you choose to save. We do not store it. To run the calculator, some plan numbers are passed in the page's web address to our web host, which does not keep them.
- Your statements. Bank and broker statements are read in your browser. The files are not uploaded.
- Your settings, such as tips on or off and today’s or future dollars, are stored in your browser.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes these. Keep a saved plan file if you want a copy.
What we collect
- If you use Free without signing in (“Try it now”): no account and no email address. A cookie remembers that choice until you close your browser. Like any website, our host records technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
- If you sign in: your email address, so we can send you a sign-in code and recognise you. We keep a short account record: your email address, whether you have Free or Plus, when you first and last signed in, and whether you asked for update emails. Signing in sets a cookie and keeps sign-in details in your browser so you stay signed in.
- If you buy Plus: payment is made through Stripe. Stripe collects your card or payment details; we never see your full card number. We receive your name, email address, billing address if Stripe asks for it, what you bought, the amount, the date and whether payment succeeded. We keep a licence record with your email address, the licence start and end dates and its status.
- If you contact us by email, the website feedback form or the refund form: your name, email address and what you tell us.
- If you ask for update emails (a tick box when you sign up, or in Account in the app): your email address, used only to send the updates you asked for. You can stop them at any time in Account, or by emailing us.
We do not use advertising, advertising cookies or tracking analytics, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
Optional features that send limited information
- Categorise with our AI (SpendLens): only when you press the button, the descriptions of your uncategorised transactions (for example the merchant name) are sent through our server to Google’s Gemini AI service to suggest categories. Amounts, dates, balances and account details are not sent. On Google’s free service, Google may use this text to improve its products, so don’t use AI categorising if your descriptions include anything you’d rather keep private.
- Fonts: some pages load fonts from Google Fonts and code from public code services (jsDelivr and Cloudflare cdnjs), so your browser connects to them and they see your IP address.
How we use it
We use personal information to sign you in, to provide and check your Plus licence, to take payment and give refunds, to answer your questions, to send updates you asked for, to keep the service secure, and to meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.
Who we share it with
We use these service providers to run The Long Weekend Plan. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Netlify: website hosting, sign-in checks, and the refund request form.
- Supabase: accounts and licence records.
- Resend: sending sign-in emails.
- Stripe: payments and refunds. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to the details you give it.
- Google: Gemini AI for Categorise with our AI (descriptions only), Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjs (public code), and the Gmail account we use for support email.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Information stored outside Australia
These providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose established providers that protect the information they hold.
Security and how long we keep it
Sign-in uses one-time email links, so there is no password to steal. Access to account and licence records is restricted. We keep purchase and licence records for as long as tax and business record laws require, and other information only while it is needed. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; we will delete what we are not required to keep.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing australiansuperguidebook@gmail.com. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you by email first.
